About This Blog

Hi, we are Raffael (30) and Sonja (29), entrepreneurs and travel reporters. This blog is about a combination of two wonderfull books:  “The 4-hour workweek” by Tim Ferris and “1,000 places to see before you die” by Patricia Schultz. We read both books and we realized that one book showed me what we wanted to do and the other one showed me how we could do it.

And so the idea for 4hours1000places.com was born. We will try to have a 4-hour workweek and make enough money to visit all 1000 places.

Now a little bit about ourselves

I (Raffael) studied at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Stuttgart and finished with a bachelors degree in International Business with a major emphasis on marketing. During my studies my brother and I started our own German website about weddings. This was my start to the world of online business. Since then I have learned more and more about lifestyle design and making money online.

I think I might be the happiest man on earth. I am lucky enough to have realized that everything in life can be changed if you are willing to take a chance. Reading the 4-hour workweek made me see that it is possible to live the life I want to live and that  life is what you make of it.

Travelling has always been one of our passions. I lived in the United States for 12 months to experience the American Way of Life, I travelled to 24 countries on 4 different continents from the Canada to the Maldives. However, we want to see the entire world because there is nothing that broadens your mind more than travelling. Fortunatelly I have a wife who loves travelling even more than I do.

Sonja is a designer of digital and print media and since the start of our round the world trip she has joined our business.

What you get from reading this blog

This blog is designed for two kind of people: Those who like to travel and those who want to learn about the 4-hour work week and how it can be done. Unlike many others who started blogging about how they DID it, I will keep you informed of how we are CURRENTLY achieving it and how you could do it, too. You will read about our success, but also learn from the mistakes that we make. And it’s all LIVE.

For the traveller in you, you will get travel reports from all over the world. Since we are currently travelling around the world, there are far more travel reports than business reports.

    Raffael,

I just listened to your interview with Pat Flynn a couple years ago. Your blog is just what I’m striving for. I’m a fellow German too, living in the US since 2005. Just started my first blog and will see how it goes.
Thanks for posting about all these great places in the world. I am lucky to have seen one or the other myself, but there’s still so much to explore.
Also, awesome idea with your wedding site and such an inspiration.
